Michael Whitaker

Calvaro FCS

As well as breeding Cor de la Bryere, Calvaro`s sire, Caletto 1, is one of the most successful horses in sport. He himself started his active sport career after two breeding seasons. Under Michael Ruping, Caletto 1 jumped at international level and his best achievement was the individual bronze medal at the 1982 Dublin World Championships.

From his first breeding season, Caletto 1 had produced several licensed sons, such as the progenitor Cantus. Aldatus Z (Aldato), Adelfos (Athlet Z) and Lux Z (Lord Calando x Ahorn) are but a few of the many international showjumping horses produced by daughters of Caletto 1. In 1986 Caletto 1 resumed his successful breeding career. Stallion selection champion Cassandro and the international jumpers Costa, Cornetto and, of course, Calvaro KS are but a few examples.

His dam RIXA, is a daughter of another lop-class sire, Capitol 1 (Capitano). The blood of Capitol is very valuable for showjumping horse breeding, Calvaro FCS`s dam`s lineage goes back through the Farnese son Fantus to a beautifully bred Hanoverian female line that carries the blood of Sesam II and Goldfisch II and that is very popular in Hanover, as well.
